Two accessories can make a real difference to your hatch rate: an egg candler to monitor embryo development and a separate thermometer and hygrometer to verify your incubator’s temperature and humidity readings.
Fully automatic from start
Your incubator arrives fully assembled and pre-set. Plug it in, add water, set the eggs in the turning tray, and every automatic function starts working the moment it's switched on — thermostat, fan and turning motor included.
The eggs are turned twelve times a day, once every two hours. Turning helps the developing embryos reach the nutrients inside their eggs and stops them sticking to the shell membranes. The tray dividers adjust to any egg size, from small quail to large goose, so you never need to buy a different tray.
Humidity without the guesswork
Humidity is managed with a water channel system in the base of the incubator. A silicone tube connects an external water bottle to the channel, so refilling takes seconds and doesn't disturb the eggs. Top up roughly every three to five days and the channel will never run dry or overflow.
Three days before the chicks are due, humidity needs to rise. On the Model 12 you simply remove one of the floating polystyrene sheets; on the larger models you fill a second water channel through an external filling hole. Either way, the lid stays closed.
Ready for hatch day
Three days before hatch day, the eggs stop being turned. The turning tray lifts straight out of the incubator, and the eggs go onto the hatching tray below.
From there it's a waiting game — and a good view. The wraparound window gives everyone a clear line of sight as the chicks pip, zip and tumble out. On the larger models, the built-in day counter tells you exactly how long there is to go, and keeps its reading even if the power blinks.
Easy to clean, cheap to run
Every electronic component sits in the lid, which means the parts that actually get messy — the base and the hatching tray — separate out and soak in soapy water. Cleaning up after a hatch takes minutes, not an afternoon.
The incubators are energy efficient, too. The heating element only cycles on when needed and the turning motor runs once every two hours, so a Model 12 draws well under its 70-watt maximum most of the time. With the insulating casing fitted, the larger models are a practical off-grid option.
