Yes, the Janoel Model 12 can be used to incubate between one and 12 chicken eggs per incubation. The automatic egg-turning tray design means you don’t have to fill the incubator to its full capacity.

The eggs will need to be set in the incubator at intervals so all the species hatch at the same time. This way the eggs can stop being turned and the humidity raised three days before all the chicks are due to hatch.

For example:

• Chicken eggs require 21 days of incubation before they hatch

• Japanese quail require 17 days of incubation before they hatch

This means you would set the chicken eggs in the incubator first, then set the quail eggs four days later. This way the chicken and quail chicks will both hatch at the same time.

The thermostat in the Janoel Model 12 is preset to reach and maintain an incubation temperature of 38.0°C when the incubator is switched on.

The Janoel Model 12 gently turns the eggs 12 times per day. This ensures the embryos can develop healthily during the incubation process.

When setting eggs in the Janoel Model 12, they need to be placed in the automatic egg-turning tray. The automatic egg-turning tray comes with dividers to separate rows of eggs. The automatic egg-turning tray dividers should be positioned so there is a slight gap between each egg and the dividers. The dividers can be easily adjusted to accommodate different egg sizes.

The automatic egg-turning system turns the eggs once every two hours. Turning the eggs helps the developing embryos access nutrients within their eggs and prevents them from sticking to the shell membranes.

The eggs should stop being turned three days before the chicks are due to hatch. At this time the automatic egg-turning tray can simply be lifted out of the Janoel Model 12 egg incubator. The eggs can then be placed on the hatching tray ready for the hatch.

The Janoel Model 12 uses an industry standard water channel system to ensure optimum humidity is maintained inside the incubator.

Before setting eggs, a silicone water tube (included) will be used to connect a water bottle (included) to a water channel in the incubator’s base. The water bottle is cleverly designed to ensure the water channel never runs dry or overflows. This design makes it quick and easy to refill the water bottle while ensuring the developing embryos aren’t disturbed by opening the incubator’s lid. The water bottle will need to be refilled with water around every three to five days.

The water channel in the incubator’s base has been designed to accommodate polystyrene sheets (included). These polystyrene sheets will float in the water channel. The surface area of water exposed in the incubator’s base with the polystyrene sheets in place will cause just the right amount of water to evaporate when heated to incubation temperature (38.0°C). This evaporation, combined with the fan-forced air circulation and air vent is configured to maintain the humidity at an optimum level for healthy embryo development.

The humidity inside the egg incubator should be increased three days before the chicks are due to hatch. This is achieved by removing one of the polystyrene sheets from the water channel in the incubator’s base at this time. With one of the polystyrene sheets removed, water evaporation will increase, and the humidity level inside the incubator will be maintained at the right level during the hatch.

The Janoel Model 12 egg incubator doesn’t come with a built-in hygrometer. However, a hygrometer can be placed in the Janoel Model 12 if you’d like to use one.

The Janoel Model 12 egg incubator comes with a day counter display. The day counter will keep track of how many days have passed since the eggs were set in the incubator. This ensures you’ll know exactly how long there is to go until the chicks hatch (it takes 21 days of incubation before chicken chicks hatch).

The day counter reading will be saved in case the power supply is disrupted during the incubation. It can be easily reset back to zero days ready for the next incubation once the chicks have hatched.
