If you already have a suitable chicken door installed, you can keep your existing door and add automatic opening and closing functionality with the controller.

How the Automatic Door Controller Works
The controller manages the opening and closing of your chicken door according to your preferred settings.
Time-Based Operation: Set the controller to open or close the door at a specific time to suit your flock's routine.
Light-Sensor Operation: The light sensor allows the door to respond to changing daylight conditions.This means you don't need to continually adjust your settings as sunrise and sunset times change throughout the year.
Time + Light Sensor: You can use both a closing time and light level.When both settings are enabled, the door will close according to whichever condition occurs first.
Manual Operation: You can also operate the door manually whenever you need to take control yourself.
No Mains Power Required
The controller is battery powered, so you don't need mains electricity at your chicken coop. There is also no need to install a solar panel. This makes the system suitable for poultry setups where access to power is limited or unavailable.
Delivery / Shipping
We post orders placed before 4 p.m. AEST on the same business day. We send all automatic chicken door orders via Australia Post Express Post. Most orders are delivered the following business day. Delivery to some regional or remote areas can take two business days. We’ll email the tracking number to you shortly after sending your order.
Warranty & Support
The Safe Coop automatic chicken door comes with a one-year warranty. The Poultry Australia team are here to help if you have any questions or issues.

Frequently asked questions
Is the automatic door controller waterproof?
Every effort has been made to design and construct the door controller to prevent water from entering. The door controller housing is manufactured from strong, waterproof ASA plastic, and there is a silicone seal between the join to keep water out. However, if the door controller is installed on a coop wall exposed to the prevailing weather, building a structure above the door controller is recommended to provide an additional layer of protection. You can look at the photos for examples of the weather protection built around the automatic door controller in exposed locations.
My old automatic chicken door controller is broken. Can I swap it with yours?
Yes, you can keep your old chicken door and install a new Safe Coop automatic chicken door controller above it. The door controller can be purchased individually without a door at the checkout. If you’d like to install a Safe Coop auto-locking door, you can entirely replace your old chicken door setup.
Will I need to reset the chicken door after changing the batteries?
The Safe Coop automatic chicken coop door controller has a backup power supply to save the settings between changing the batteries, so you won’t need to reset the door.
How long do the batteries last?
The batteries can last up to two years thanks to the system's ultra-low energy consumption technology.
How will I know when the batteries need replacing?
The display includes a battery level indicator to provide warning before the batteries need replacing.
